- The Fed clearly DID NOT signal they would “pivot” to a slower pace of rate hikes in either their official statement or their press conference
- The Fed DID signal they are not willing to keep hiking rates until inflation gets to target. This is HUGE because it chops off the tail risk that the Fed hikes to an absurdly high level, like 5.5%, 6% or 6.5%
- Instead, the Fed is willing to keep rates “sufficiently above neutral,” at say a 5% policy rate vs. a neutral rate of 2.5% - and HOLD it there
